Verve Energy Collie Community Fund
Verve Energy has set up a special community fund for the people of Collie, under the trusteeship of Western Australian Community Foundation. Verve Energy has been part of the Collie community for more than 40 years. Many of its power station employees live in the town. Verve Energy already use local suppliers where possible, support local businesses through social club activities, employ local youth as apprentices and graduates, and fund projects through its sponsorship program. However, it wants to do more for the community. Through the Verve Energy Collie Community Fund, they can. The focus for the fund’s support will be youth and the environment. However, other areas such as arts, sports and cultural events can be considered if they involve the whole community.
Become Involved
If you live in Collie, then you will know what the town needs. Western Australian Community Foundation invites you to apply as an individual, or group, for funding to a project or initiative which will benefit your community.
As the founding donor, Verve Energy has kicked off the fund with a $30,000 donation and will top it up each year with $10,000. It is hoped, over time, that other businesses and individuals will donate to the fund to support local projects. (Verve Energy has set it up so its employees can contribute through automatic payroll deductions if they wish).
An advisory committee, made up of Verve Energy employees, community members, local business people, Collie Shire and government representatives, will work closely with Western Australian Community Foundation to seek and recommend local projects and initiatives for support. Collie people can become involved in the Verve Energy Collie Community Fund by nominating to join the advisory committee. You must be committed to the long term future of your local community. To find out more about the current advisory committee members, please contact the Foundation on ph (08) 9224 6000.
